Skilled Personnel

An English-speaking workforce

For a Mediterranean leading edge

Malta has a highly-skilled, English-speaking workforce which gives it a leading edge in the Mediterranean as a regional centre for financial services and inward investment.

The Maltese workforce is the only albeit best natural resource of the country. They have always been known to be not only hard workers but also flexible and ingenious. These exceptional qualities of the Maltese have attracted a large number of foreign firms to set up shop in Malta and take advantage of these qualities. A key attraction of the Maltese labour force is its language skills and its high level of education. Workers in Malta tend to be very faithful and tend not to be very mobile thus ensuring a relatively low staff turnover.

Malta boasts the oldest university in the Commonwealth outside the UK and has a tradition of academic excellence and research. Some 60% of students continue to tertiary level education in some 85 or more institutes.

Maltese and English are both official languages and all laws and regulations can be easily found in English. Moreover, everyone, even the least educated have at least a basic knowledge and understanding of English, meaning that one can communicate easily.

The unique position of Malta has meant that the Maltese have had to learn to adapt quickly to the ever changing situation in the Mediterranean over the centuries. The result is in a workforce that can rise to any challenge and that can quickly come to grasp with the requirements of foreign investors.
