Malta Financial Services Authority
A single regulator
The supervising authority for the banking sector is the Malta Financial Services Authority (‘MFSA') which acts as a single regulator supervising the whole financial services industry. The Authority is an autonomous public institution set up by law in 2002.
The MFSA oversees all areas of the financial sector including banks, stockbrokers, accountants and auditors, trustees, fiduciaries, and insurance companies, the Malta stock exchange.
The authority also manages the registry of companies.
